Teacher Preparation Program

The Patchwork School is one of the ONLY democratic schools in the country to offer a teacher preparation program that provides an internship opportunity which will allow you to obtain a teaching license and a Master's degree in education.

We are no longer accepting applications for 2009-2010 Interns, as the position has been filled. However, we are looking for passionate, open-minded, caring people that are interested in applying for the 2010-2011 school year.

The internship includes:

  • Earning a teaching license through the Colorado Department of Education's Alternative Licensure Program (a Statement of Eligibility is required from the CDE before the practicum can begin, and this process can take some time so it's best to start early. For details on this please contact Susan House at house@ecentral.com)
  • An optional Master’s degree program through the University of Colorado at Denver
  • A teaching practicum at The Patchwork School with hands-on experience in the classroom four days a week with a mentor teacher
The Patchwork School will provide funds towards tuition and a stipend. You can download the internship application and information sheet here: The timeline for applying is as follows:
  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
  • Interviews of the top applicants will be conducted in the spring(a tour/observation of the school will be included with the interview).
  • Applicants will be notified of acceptance as soon as possible and assuming CDE and UCD accceptance will begin the following August.
